Interactivity ...
Interactivity Description
Please concisely describe your Camp's 2010 interactive concepts and goals, philosophy and plans for personal interaction with the community. (This is the most important information we are collecting from you).
The enterprising members of Terminal City have NOT been hibernating since the last burn! Our plans for interactivity have doubled for 2010. At our usual location (straddling A Street from 3:00 to 3:30), Terminal City will offer a wide range of day and night public interactivity opportunities. First, theme nights at the Booby Bar all through the week encourages much creativity for everyone. The Booby Bar is also the host of the Critical Dicks March as well as the daily interactive "The Witness Protection Connection - A Dating Service for the Persona non Grata.” Performances and performance art projects in our interactive “A Hole” area including daily games, sno-cones, cotton candy, game shows, a fashion show, art to see and play with—even a USO show! In addition, citizens of BRC can visit one of BRC’s finest burner clothing boutiques- Sex Filth Avenue! Geeky burners can attempt to complete quests for the PlayaWaste Raiders or test their skill at various midway games with a gruesome twist! In addition, Terminal City will offer BRC citizens a bike rodeo as well as basic bike repairs on an as-available basis by Elliot Naess, of Kinetic Sculpture Racing Camp. Let us not forget the triumphant return of WTF 99.9 FM Radio APOKILIPTIKA broadcasting across BRC 24 hrs a day, with a mix of music, comedy, information, and disinformation. At Terminal City, we pride ourselves on hospitality, visually stunning camp structures, and interactivity! Our events list is being posted at: http://www.apokiliptika.com/terminal_city_2010_events_interactivity.htm

Camp Layout Plan
Deadline for all plans is April 29th. We prefer you use one of the two options below. Sample plan and additional submission options are available for BM Depts and Theme Camps and Villages
Camps in villages should submit your plans only to your village mayor, who should submit the combined village plan to us.
If you have posted your plan on the interwebs, enter the Camp layout plan web address below (Test the address to be sure it’s working! We get many “page not found” errors in this process).
Please only use 1 option.
1. Plan URL
http://www.apokiliptika.com/terminal_city_2010_plans_diagrams.htm
Number Of Campmates (Required)
How many people will be camping with you? We have limited areas available for very large camps/villages, therefore we are encouraging more, smaller camps.
N/A for Camps in Villages
150 to 199
Number and Type of Vehicles
Burning Man would like to support environmentally conscious transportation options. Please consider this as you plan your transportation to the playa. Please specify the number of cars and large vehicles (RVs, buses) that will be in your Camp so we can determine space needs.
Approximately 20 large vehicles such as RV's, Campers, Box Trucks, Pickup Trucks with Trailers
Approximately 40-42 cars
Carpooling is highly encouraged.
Physical Description
We need a description of the layout of your Camp. Please describe the physical aspects with as much detail as possible. Include a description of features like structures, buildings, vehicles, tents, platforms, and the locations of your power sources.
Terminal City- No Gas, No Food, No Mercy. This wording on a large highway sign, greets all who enter the city limits.
This village consists of 6 inter-connected theme camps straddling A Street from the 3:00 plaza to 3:30. The most recognizable structure is the Booby Bar—the only tits known to be visible from space. APOKILIPTIKA is celebrating the demise of cities with scaffolding and other impressive visual effects. The PlayaWaste Raiders camp has the remains of a two-story structure to add to the visual effect. MASH 4207th keeps watch over the warring factions of Terminal City and is always providing care. The Norwegians of the Herring camp bring an observation tower. Sex Filth Avenue Boutique is prepared to dress BRC citizens in new playa costumes.
In the center, is our city’s arts and entertainment district, the A Hole. The A Hole was extremely effective in 2008 and 2009 as a gathering place for scheduled and unscheduled activities and interactions. Surrounding the A Hole are theme camps with a variety of art works, contraptions and interactive features like performance spaces, games and towers. The Terminal City flagpole rises near the radio tower of WTF 99.9 FM Radio APOKILIPTIKA. The coves of the A Hole serve as public gathering space and off street parking for Terminal City mutant vehicles as well as visiting MVs and bikes, without impairing traffic flow on A street. Terminal City has a cohesive look and feel. Extra effort is put into making the camp frontages thematic and compelling, imparting a militaristic end of the world suburbia motif – perfect for the Metropolis theme.
The camps of TC share many infrastructure needs, including water and fuel supplies, generator and electricity resources, as well as sharing elements of kitchen and our own portable toilets reducing our impact on the event. In 2008, the entry from the 3:00 keyhole onto A St. was dark and mostly unlit at night. This made it very difficult for BRC citizens to see there was a street- even Terminal City members often lost sight of it. For 2009, we created lamp posts and using 400 feet of contractor string lights lit our portion of A street. This endeavor was a huge success and created an inviting atmosphere and our village was able to entertain many more citizens of BRC! The dramatic night lighting effect from 2009, that lit up A Street throughout Terminal City, will return in 2010!

Comments
Please list any special needs or comments that you might like to make. (Suggestions? Accolades? Complaints?)
In 2008 and 2009, Terminal City was located between 3:00 and 3:30 straddling A street, a difficult location to request on this form. The location was excellent, and we’d be honored to be placed in the very same spot. In addition, every member of Terminal City would like to thank our placers for all their hard work as well as our gift of space in 2009. We sincerely hope you'll stop by and visit us in 2010.
Alternative Power
Please describe your plans to use alternative power options here.
From lighting to charging mutant vehicle batteries, we proudly utilize as many solar powered items as we can get our hands on. Terminal City is always looking for alternatives to generators.
Generators
If you plan to use generators on the playa, please tell us how many and what your fuel type is. (e.g. diesel, gasoline, bio-diesel, ethanol, veggie oil, or other)
4 generators available for the village. 2 max in operation during evening hours. 2 backups. Sound dampening will be used. Generator fuel will be stored in approved safe containers away from sources of ignition. Any fuel will be stored in emergency accessible locations.
Look for the first Placement-Announce to be posted by May 7th. Contact us at placement@burningman.com if you don’t receive an announcement by then.
Thank you! We are looking forward to your creativity on the playa this year!

Administration
• Member Camps – Status: The following camps plan to return to the Village in
2010: Apokiliptika, Boobie Bar, MASH, Raiders, TMI, and Herring Camp. Galileo is
leaving the Village. Poison Palace wants to remain separate. Wedding Chapel
members plan to attend, but without chapel; possible merger with SFA. However,
not currently sure of status of SFA. Discussion of whether or not Village
Application should include SFA. Decided to proceed with application including
SFA, same overall Village size as last year. If they do not come space to be
reallocated.
• Village Application: Dr. Jet Sinister plans to submit Village Application by
March 15th.
• All camps within Village (including TMI) to prepare and submit theme camp
application (available on-line).
• Camp leaders to email their contact information to Dr. Jet by end of this
week.
• Copies of individual theme camp applications to be sent to Dr. Jet by March
8th.
• Website: One should be in-place to reference in Village Application.
Discussion of keeping current links within Apokiliptika website rather than
setting up something new.
Village/Camp Layout
• Reviewed preliminary layout prepared by Edude, as modified repeatedly over the
last several months. Overall footprint same as last year. NE quadrant with SFA/Raider/Galileo/Wedding
Chapel to be revised to Raiders and SFA, with Raiders shifted to have Ahole
frontage. These shifts were marked on map and stamped approved by camp leaders.
• The Ahole is currently shown in center of village but it could shift to adjust
for camp densities.
• Camps can further define their space needs and coordinate with Edude to refine
village plan, Ahole dimensions, etc. However, plans should remain flexible since
the space we are actually given will likely be different than what we ask for.
• Edude will update colored sketch of village and send to CaptSmashy for
possible billboard.
Shared Infrastructure
• Porta-Potties: Summary of long discussion - CaptSmashy has received quotes
from United Site Service. One ADA and 3 regulars will be provided with on-site
delivery on Thurs., August 26th. Cost is $500 for ADA and $350/each for
regulars, including one pump-out. Additional pump-outs $100 for all 4. They will
be placed together for ease of service and to equalize use. Captsmashy will
supply a carport frame, inside lighting, and signs noting they are for private
use. (keys and locks??? – PineMom posted 2/19 that she has last years
locks/keys)
• Porta-Potty Fees: Camp Mayors are to collect fees, currently estimated at
$20/pp, from all camp members and provide to CaptSmashy. Individuals camping in
Village will not have option of opting out of these fees. Camp members who show
up late in week are also to pay fees.
Manbabe and Paula entered the room:
• Discussion went back to camps and mapping. SFA and Wedding Chapel camp members
plan to merge into the SFA camp. They were ok with location at 3:00 end of
Village. Manbabe to send updated application to Dr. Jet by March 8th.
• Lighting:
o To be installed in front of all camps. Last year we had 4 contractor light
strings and 24 12-foot wood posts/tee stakes. Majority of cost shared by Apok
and Boooby Bar; Martini Steve supplied U-bolt attachments and some tee stakes.
Dragonfly Jafe supplied one additional light string. (5 strings total)
o 3 of the light strings were heavy duty that can be run in series. The light
weight string was used by itself around the stage.
o Posts were installed 20 feet apart, light strings were 100 feet long.
o Current location of lighting components: KK has 2 light strings, Dragonfly
Jafe has 1, and 12 12-foot wood posts and one light string are at Lemmongrad.
Martini Steve has U-bolts. (where are T stakes and 5th light string??)
o Need about 2 more light strings, (preferably heavy duty), more posts, tee
stakes, and U-bolts for camps that currently do not have lighting (MASH and
Herrings). (how is this to be coordinated?)
o SFA has their own lighting.
o M. Steve/Logan to be primary lighting installers, with a helper from each
camp.
o Majority of lighting should be up by 5pm Sunday. Complete installation Monday
with new arrivals.
EAT Passes:
• Each camp needs to send request for # of passes to Dr. Jet as part of
application submittal by March 8th. Dr. Jet will include request total with
village application, rounded up to allow for last minute changes. Application
should address that we will have PortaPotties in place for EAT teams.
On-site Coordination:
• Dr. Jet, as Village czarina, will be responsible for official dealings with
BRC staff.
• Logan: Village Ambassador for informal dealings with neighboring camps,
including finding out who their mayors are.
• Moop Czar: This fine position has to be held by last person(s) out, which will
likely be OED, PineMom and Titwi. As each camp gets ready to leave, they are to
have these 3 review their area for approval.
• Astro-turf: Would greatly prefer none if it is in the Village. If someone does
bring it, they are responsible for all removal, including checking with
neighboring camps if any of it has drifted their way.
• Meet and Greet Event: Tues. 5 pm, camp walk to all camps for showNtell, and
then back to Boooby Bar.
Adjourn: 1430 hrs
These notes are as true and accurate a meeting discussion as I managed to write
down. If I missed anything, please make a note of it. And If I missed anyone in
the attendance list I apologize. Helga[/quote]
